Romney Out of Presidential Race

Mitt Romney has taken himself out of the race for the White House.  After faltering heavily on ‘Super Tuesday’ Romney exited the race which all but seals the Republican nomination for John McCain.

“If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win.  And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror,” Romney told the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington.

“This is not an easy decision for me.  I hate to lose.  My family, my friends and our supporters … many of you right here in this room … have given a great deal to get me where I have a shot at becoming president. If this were only about me, I would go on. But I entered this race because I love America,” Romney said.

Romney, a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was a fine candidate.  However, I personally felt he was not quite ready to be the President.  Maybe in four years his turn will come.

Richardson Out of Presidential Race

January 10, 2008

After poor finishes in the Iowa and New Hampshire Democratic primaries, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson ended his bid for the White House today.  Richardson had a mere 4% of the vote in New Hampshire and 2% in Iowa.  During his exit he endorsed none of his competitors but asked voters to “take a long and thoughtful look” at all the candidates.

Richardson won easily in his two quests for the New Mexico gubernatorial seat.  His tenure will end in 2010, however, due to term limits.
